And yet the night wasn’t over with. At 2:00am another group has arrived from even a further distance - the border crossing at Vama Siret (RO-UA) in the North East of RO. Thank you Daniel Si Mona Ciupe at Charis Foundation for accommodating them and honouring them with your hospitality!

Another vulnerable group fleeing the horrors of war in Ukraine! After long journeys on various trains in between cities inside Ukraine, the group has finally made it to the border with Romania late into the night - this time on a bus for their last 200 km of the journey - where then we had to swap buses in no man’s land in order to continue our journey onto Romania. Made it safely to our destination at Caminul Felix & Noble House Oradea after midnight!

Grateful to Casa Rabi and Mustard Seed Jersey for the warm welcome to our latest group of 55 people among which 29 children, many with disabilities, that we managed to take out of UA under the diligent assistance of our friend and partner there Pete Malkin (who has a special heart for those with disabilities) and at the request of his friends: Oleg, who has a National responsibility for the whole region to support these people, Iryna his deputy, and Tatiana who is the National leader of the Coordinating Centre for the Evacuation of People with Disabilities from Ukraine, now based in Lviv. There they receive hundreds of children from areas like Kiev and other major Eastern towns being bombed.

With special thanks to both our local and international partners for their continuous support to assist these people who really have come to rely on us: whatever you can offer, practically, prayerfully, financially…

It's night time but we're still on our way. The rooms are ready, the refrigerators are full and more and more people are eager to offer support.

One of the first accommodation facilities provided by a local public authority in Bihor, intended for those fleeing the war in Ukraine, is now ready thanks to the collective effort of absolutely generous people: the exemplary mobilization of Mayor Béres Csaba Săcueni City Hall; Food donated through special efforts Food Bank Oradea; Logistics support Șinca Foundation and other partners looking for solutions so that people can arrive and stay here safely!

We want a coordinated, integrated approach through which these people can be truly protected and helped!

Remember: human trafficking, migrant trafficking and any other type of exploitation or speculation are an even greater risk in times like these!

Winter brings with it the joy of playing in the snow. Tinca does not have hills and spaces good for sledding, so we thought of rewarding the students in the gymnasium and the graduates of the primary education at the ProRoma School, for the results obtained at the public school in the first semester, with a trip to the mountains, to Stâna de Vale. So, over 50 children filled the slope with sleighs, laughter, good cheer, play, good understanding, harmony, collaboration, team spirit, respect .... such beautiful and useful things for everyday life.

Dear children, we are proud of you. You have shown once again that our efforts are working.

We thank our partner Cătunul verde for the opportunities it offers us to reward children with activities that are so enjoyable for them and for the volunteers.

A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal!

Last but not least! The children from ProRoma School in Tinca have received their gifts as well. Thanks to our friends and partners from Boxes of Hope, Cumbria for their kind love and generosity throughout the year!

He who doesn't have Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree!

Just completed a couple of days distribution assisted by a group of volunteer friends from Chiesa Cristiana Gesù Vive Milano, IT who have sacrificed their time and resources to help distribute some joy around a few counties in Transylvania. Besides the great pleasure of offering huge joy to these kids we’ve certainly learned once again that poverty is the worst form of violence to children!

There are people in the world so hungry that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread.

With many thanks to the generosity and love of our friends and partners from Boxes of Hope, Cumbria who have provided all the boxes! #boxesofhope

In the lead up to Christmas, the students of ProRoma School started in groups to carol the beneficiaries of the Care Centers for the Elderly in Tinca - 3 homes, 2 belonging to the “Samaritan of Bihor”, Mr. Viorel Pașca and the other one belonging to the Reformed Church in Tinca. Friends from Tinca and employees of Tinca Commune City Hall were also caroled. The songs were more enthusiastic than harmonized. The children sang "What Wonderful News," "It's Christmas, It's Christmas," "In an Insignificant village in Judea," "Christ Was Born Today," and "Host School, Don't Sleep." The hosts opened the doors with joy and the children were rewarded with gifts, thus contributing to the specific joy of welcoming Christmas.

boxes of hope 2021Our idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others! Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?

Stay tuned.
